My 5 Minute Testimony

The Plans I Made

Did you know that you have a testimony? Whatever your story, God works all things for His glory.  There is a testimony in every story, and I would like to share mine with you.

I didn’t grow up in a church.  I also didn’t grow up in an anti-God home.  It was more like, there is a God of the Universe out there, so you should probably be good…  But that was pretty much it for my spiritual foundation.

In college, someone gave me a Bible, which quickly made its way into storage. Fast forward several years, a husband, and one baby later; and my friend, Michelle, invited me to come help her take care of the babies during our small town’s Vacation Bible School. I decided to go because we lived in a VERY tiny town, and it seemed like a good way for me to meet people. We had a fun week in the nursery, so my husband and I decided to start attending that little Southern Baptist church. I liked going, but never looked at it as more than my weekly social hour.

God had a Different Plan

I found Christ “accidentally on purpose” on a fall Sunday in 2009. An eager interim Pastor randomly asked me if I had ever been saved.  When I said, “no,” he said, “Great! How about you get baptized next weekend?”

It was a terrifying moment! My husband seemed okay with it though, so I reluctantly agreed.  I had no idea what it meant to be “saved” and the word “baptized” sent chills up my spine. (The scared out of my mind kind!)  Regardless, the very next Sunday I stood up, next to a pastor I had never met, with an entire congregation watching me.  I wasn’t sure what was going to happen to me. I prepared myself for an alien abduction, haha, and for how I was going to escape this cult.

The next thing I knew, that stranger preacher asked me if I agreed to make Jesus the Lord of my life. Then he leaned in, and whispered, “say yes”, so I did! (Believe it!  You can’t make that up!!) You know the drill from here… down I went into the water, and up I came.  There was no bright light, I didn’t see the Heavens open, nor did God speak out loud.  BUT…  right there, in that moment, I knew that even though I didn’t really understand what I was saying yes to, I absolutely would spend the rest of my life finding out.

I wasn’t sure what had just happened to me, but I was definitely different.  When you make such a monumental promise to God, it changes you.

The best decision I ever made

Since that day I have renewed my commitment to Christ so many times I can’t keep track!  I am richly blessed, living every day now in the freedom of Christ.  I walk in perfect peace because I know that my eternity is sealed. There is nothing on this Earth that will ever again separate me from the love of God.  He shines His beautiful face on me every day, He showers me with favor and blessings even though I don’t deserve them. His love has changed me forever.

If there was anything I could ever do to repay Him for loving me so unconditionally, it is right here, in the pages you are reading.

He can and will change your life too, if you are willing.

  1. Hi Tiffany! My name is Tiffiney! (Ha!)

I found your blog because I linked up at the 100 Happy Days link up last week and I was just following through with my commitment to follow the bloggers who host. So, as I was searching around your blog to see which social media platform I would follow you on, I came across this post on your testimony. What a blessing to read what you’ve written. our words really resonated with me. I can see you love the Lord.

We have some things in common – other than our names! I’ve given my life to Christ a ton of times, too. I think it’s so creative that you titled this post: My 5 Minute Testimony. It made me want to read it. I’ve shared my testimony over on my site too. Hop over and read it whenever you have the time.

God bless you, my dear sister. Good gettin’ to know you, even if it’s only through the blogsphere. :o)

    Love in Christ,

    1. Hi Tiffiney!
I love your sweet comment and I’m so glad you found me over here! We had amazing pastors at our old church who always encouraged us to write down our “5 minute testimony” and practice it over and over, that way it became easy to share with others who may need to hear it. I always thought that was such a creative idea! So it was not my own, but thank you all the same! I will definitely come check out your blog when I have a few free minutes, I would love to read your testimony too!
